Amazon · comes into force 2026-11-02

Safety-sensitive categories need $1M cover however little you sell

Breaks listings Upcoming 2026-11-02 US

The $10,000-a-month trigger no longer gates children's products, cosmetics, ingestibles or lithium-battery items. Cover is now a condition of listing them at all, and it applies to listings that already exist.

What changed

Amazon added two requirements to the commercial liability insurance policy on 2026-11-02. The first removes the revenue trigger for products in categories with enhanced safety listing requirements — children's products, cosmetics and ingestible products, and lithium-battery products among them — so a policy of at least $1 million per occurrence and in aggregate is required regardless of monthly sales, for new and existing listings. The second requires sellers located in mainland China to obtain cover through the Amazon Insurance Accelerator, with non-AIA policies submitted after that date rejected.

Who it catches

Sellers listing children's products, cosmetics, ingestibles or lithium-battery products on Amazon.com, and sellers with a business entity in mainland China.

What to do

Check whether every SKU you have sits in a category with enhanced safety listing requirements. For those that do, the policy has to be in place before 2 November, not after the first $10,000 month — underwriting takes weeks and a pending application does not move the date.
